PS10 Read-a-thon Reminder, February 1 to March 1

Now that Read-a-thon is in full swing, don’t forget to log those minutes while raising some money for the PS10 PTA. This is one of the PTA’s largest fundraisers and it runs from February 1 to March 1.  It’s not only a great time to get your kids to focus on reading, but also involve family and friends as well.  Prizes for individual readers and prizes for top classes too!  And a prize for everyone who participates.  A packet on information for read-a-thon was sent home last week. 


Reading Under the Sea, Friday, February 8th – 6pm

Reading Under the Sea is a FREE family event to help kick-off Read-a—thon, come out for a performance by special guests The Pop-Ups.

6:00pm Doors Open

6:16 – The Pop-Ups Perform!

7:00 – Milk & Cupcakes, Book Swap & Sale and more!

Pajamas Optional and bring a book or two to swap with friends.

PS10 Terrace Books Fundraiser, February 10-16, 242 Prospect Park West

If you want to pick up some new books for read-a-thon head to Terrace Books and stock up on reading for winter break, treat your sweetie to a book this Valentines’ Day, or buy a title from a teacher’s wish list!

Mention PS10 and the PTA earns 20% of your purchase.  Terrace Books can order most titles in 24 hours.


Progressive Dinner Host Info session, Monday February 11 - 8pm

Come talk to the chairs of Progressive dinner and a number of parents who have hosted. Have all your questions answered!  If you have ever wondered if you can host or now wonder what does “hosting mean!?!” Email: or or call Heather Volik at 917-361-5529. We will provide address with RSVP!


4th & 5th Grade Science Fair, February 11-12, 6-8pm

The 4th and 5th Grade will be showing off their science projects from 6-8p in the gym. 

Friends and Family are welcome.





We have rolled out a new school wide parent volunteer program which will run from January 7 to March 30, 2019. We need to add helping hands to support PS10 staff during each lunch and recess period in the winter months.


To secure parent volunteers for each lunch and recess period we have set up a school wide schedule for volunteering. Each P.S. 10 class will be assigned a specific week for which they should try to provide volunteers. A total of three classes per week will share in the work of supervising lunch and recess. We have three lunch periods every day between 11am -2 pm. We will need at least 2-3 parents for each lunch/recess period.  Please check with your class parent for more information or reach out to the class parent co-chairs on Konstella.  Please sign up for your recess/lunch period at this link.

Goals for the Volunteers

  • Provide safer and more sanitary environment during lunch period
  • Ensure a more orderly and better organized recess time for all our students
  • Contribute in the work towards offering students choices for indoor recess Increasing the time students spend outdoors
  • Improve the school experience of all PS10 students by strengthening the ties between families and the school

PS 10 is collecting Box Tops!

Looking for an easy way to raise money for PS 10? PS 10 is collecting Box Tops throughout the school year and all the proceeds go to the PTA’s general fund to support enrichment activities for the students. Box Tops coupons can be found on many groceries including Lara Bar, Annie’s, Ziploc, Papermate, various cereals, and many more. Please clip any Box Tops dated after 11/1/18 and put them in the collection box located outside the PTA office. If your child wants to make a fun project out of collecting, go to this link to print out a collection sheet or grab one outside the PTA office.


Lost & Found!

Please remember to come and check for your child’s lost items in the back of the auditorium.  We will eventually sort and give away clothes that are not picked up.  Additionally, a reminder if you’re tired of losing your child's lunchbox, gloves, coats, water bottles, sweatshirts, hats, backpacks, school supplies, etc you can purchase some labels through the Mabel’s Labels Fundraiser for PS10.  Avoid rifling through the lost and found this year and support PS10 at the same time by fundraising with Mabel's Labels!
