COMING UP THIS WEEK

 

TENSTOCK ROCKS! – TOMORROW!!  SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14TH (11AM – 4PM) RAIN OR SHINE
Come out for an awesome day of live music, games, crafts, sports, bounce houses, face painters, yummy food, a chili cook-off and more!! The House Band will be entertaining us again this year along with kid bands, and a live capoeira performance to follow. 

Don’t miss out on this fun-filled, family day out and make sure to bring your friends! And don’t forget to return your Bake Sale donations, and sign-up on Konstella to enter the Chili Cook-Off so we can judge your favorite chili recipe!

 

Tickets are $10 pp or $35 for a family of 4

PS10 GENERAL MEETING, OCTOBER 19TH (6PM IN THE AUDITORIUM)

Babysitting and pizza will be available in the cafeteria during the meeting for children ages 4 and up. If you can’t make it to the October meeting in person, visit the We Are 10 Facebook page to catch it on Facebook Live. Please note that this Facebook Live video will be saved for future viewing at your convenience as well.

TENTOBERFEST PUB CRAWL – Saturday, October 21st (6PM – 11PM)
Please join us for our First Annual Tentoberfest Pub Crawl – a community fundraiser supporting local establishments. We created this event so parents can mix & mingle in celebration of Octoberfest! Tickets are only $25 and $4 HAPPY HOUR LASTS ALL NIGHT LONG! Adults only. All proceeds go to helping the PTA meet the needs of our school. Raffle & swag. FALL FROLIC COSTUME PARTY – Friday, October 27th (6PM – 9PM in PS10 Cafeteria)
The PS10 Fifth Grade Committee is calling all Event Planners/Decorators, Bakers Extraordinaire, and Crafty parents to help plan a spooktacular dance party fundraiser for the 5th grade.  The entire community is invited to frolic, dress in festive costumes, enjoy awesome desserts, food, & snacks, and create awesome crafts. We can’t pull this off without your help!  Please email erica.nieves@corcoran.com to join this awesome team of parents and create an epic dance party. We are in need of fall decorations, and fun energetic, creative minds to plan fall craft tables, create a spooky section for those interested in a little seasonal fun, and any fun idea that will make this event memorable for both kids and adults. Music and smoke machine has been secured! Now it’s time to make the magic happen! 

 

ROARING 20’S AUCTION – Friday, November 3rd (7PM – 11PM at Prospect Park Picnic House)
Tickets are now live for the PS10 Speakeasy, this year's fabulous Roaring 20's themed auction and gala. There will be food, drinks, music, dancing and fabulous items to bid on! Camps, vacation homes, tickets and more. All proceeds will benefit the PTA. Tickets are $75 each and can be purchased at http://store.ps10.org.

And this year we are excited to announce our partnership with Brooklyn Game Lab, who will be offering a special Late Night Lab on auction night for 4th and 5th graders!! Forget about a sitter for those older kids! For only $25 they can enjoy a night of fun and games with the awesome Game Lab crew!!! Bring snacks, drinks, & cuddly friends. They can even wear PJs...The night will run from 6:30-11:30 at 479 7th Avenue at Windsor Place - the perfect time and location to attend the auction!  Email Mary to sign up: frontdesk@brooklyngamelab.com. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES

 

PLASTIC BAG RECYCLING AT TENSTOCK! As part of our school-wide efforts at recycling, let us help you clean house! Bring in all those plastic bags clogging up the nooks and crannies of your kitchen to Tenstock where they will be collected and taken to a recycling facility.

 

CATALOG FUNDRAISERS

This year we are participating in 2 separate Catalog Fundraisers which are a perfect way to purchase some items to keep on-hand for the upcoming holiday season. The CherryDale catalog is being used as a direct fundraiser for the 5th grade classes and has been distributed within that grade only. The Miss Chocolate catalog has been distributed to grades K – 4. Extra catalogs for both distributors are available in the PTA office and school lobby.

 

THE AUCTION RAFFLE

Since there was such a tremendous amount of success and fun with this last year, we are bringing raffle baskets back to the Auction again this year and we need your help! We are asking parents to donate items toward themed baskets, or small donations so we can shop on your behalf to create those amazing baskets that wowed everyone last year. Forms will be going home in yellow folders by Monday (October 16th) so please be on the look-out! We need to build a team to help engineer these amazing creations so please join the Raffle Basket Committee on Konstella for more info on how you can help out.

 

THE DIVERSITY PROJECT 

This is a year–long cultural exhibit highlighting ancestors within our PS10 families who helped define your family’s path. Maybe you have an ancestor who was the first to vote in US elections, graduate from college, or start a family business? Email a brief story of 200 words or less telling us their name, date of birth/death, and their story of trial, triumph and/or tribulation along with (1) hi-resolution, scanned photo of your ancestor and (1) hi resolution, scanned photo of your student to ps10diversityproject@gmail.com. No smartphone photos please. Please submit a letter granting permission for use along with your photograph. Entries will be reviewed for inclusion in a year–long exhibit showcasing family stories, and as coffee table book to be sold as a fundraiser. Third round of submissions are due November 15, 2017.  Photo scanning support available. Please participate! What a powerful affirmation of inclusion this will be for our children!

 

WELLNESS COMMITTEE is hoping to offer 60 teachers 10-minute massages on November 15th! We are asking all parents to donate $1-2 per child to help make this happen… simply place $1-2 in an envelope, label it “Teacher Wellness” and place in your child’s yellow folder. Please ask teachers to submit “Teacher Wellness” donations to the PTA office.
