Principal Scott's Letter to Families (Addendum)
Fri, Sep 4 9:58am

Apologies for the double email but we wanted to clarify that Monday, September 28th, 2020 is listed on our initial calendar schedule as a holiday.  We are assuming that we will still have this day off but have not yet received the updated school year calendar from  the NYCDOE.  If this does hold true, then the COHORT B students will have their first Monday session on October 5th.  We are adjusting the calendar on the website to reflect the pushed back start date.

Please note that this information is also on the school website:

 Dear PS 10 Families,

We’re looking forward to seeing your children—either in person or on Zoom — on the first day of school.  All students (both hybrid AND remote) will begin on Wednesday, September 16th through Friday, September 18th remotely. The hours and make-up of these sessions will be provided once we receive further guidance from NYCDOE Central but they will focus on wellness check-ins, technical set-up/support and virtual introductions to their classmates.

Based on the most recent update from the NYCDOE, Cohort A students’ first in-person day will be on Monday, September 21stCohort A will then report again on Tuesday, 9/22 and Thursday, 9/24 of that week.  Cohort B students’ first in-person day will be on Wednesday, 9/23 and then report again on Friday, 9/25.  Cohort B students will then have their first Monday session on September 28th.   Please note that the start of the school day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the day will end at 2:00 p.m.   For Cohort D (all remote), the school day will go from 8:30-2:00.  Detailed information regarding line-up will be shared via the website and a Town Hall meeting on a date to be announced.

A virtual parent meeting for our incoming KINDERGARTEN PARENTS will be conducted once we coordinate a date with our PTA.

Please expect more detailed information via the Town Hall meeting which will be held on Thursday, September 10th at 8:30 AM.  In addition we will be using the school website and School Messenger to provide more information around the following:

  • Health and Safety Guidelines—what we are doing to keep students safe in school and how you can support us.
  • The hybrid/blended learning and remote learning instructional days.
  • The online platforms we will be using
  • All families should have received their grade-wide supply list.  If you'd like to take care of helping us out with this with one click, you can go to School Toolbox. They buy supplies in bulk so you are able to get brand name supplies more cheaply, save yourself from running around, and a percentage of sales goes to the PTA to support PS10!

Again we thank you for your continued partnership as we continue to work with our PTA and P.S. 10 families in order to ensure the safest opening for our children.

Laura Scott,
