The issue of pets being brought to school
Thu, Mar 5 11:02am

Dear PS 10 Community;

We ask that families not bring dogs to school at drop off and pick up times.

Please do not tie your dog to the fence, especially near the entrance, surrounding the school. Dogs can become anxious while waiting for you to return, and have been known to jump, and bark at passing strangers to protect themselves.

Remember, some children are allergic, and pet dander can even trigger asthma .

Lastly,  some of our students are simply afraid of dogs and panic at the thought of passing them in a crowd.

Even the friendliest dogs become overexcited in crowded places. In  recent years, people waiting for their kids have been bitten during dismissal. One incident warranted an ambulance.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
