What IS "Island Dreams," anyway? Here's some info.
Thu, Oct 25 9:48am
You've seen the posters. You've read the Facebook posts. You've gotten the postcard in your child's yellow folder (and tossed it into your recycling bin)...
...But what in the world is this "Island Dreams?!”
An adults-only, Caribbean-themed party with your PS10 parent friends at Littlefield in Gowanus! The OPEN BAR will include wine, beer, and rum punch. (Cash bar for anything else.) Delicious food from Negril BK will be served. Hot reggae band, Twister, will perform—plus a DJ spinning dancehall, soca, calypso and more. AND hundreds of items and experiences will be auctioned or raffled off!
What should I wear?!
Festive island-wear is encouraged (think: something you'd wear out to dinner on a beach vacation), but this should be easy and fun. Feel free to go as casual or fancy as you'd like, and don't stress about attire.
Do I have to bid on stuff?
Nah. Just come and party!
If I want to bid on stuff, but not come to the party... can I?
YES! The auction will be online, which means you can bid on items from the comfort of your couch (though bidding with your friends at a bar is much more fun!). If you'd like to buy tickets to the raffle gift baskets or teacher  time raffles, be sure to buy them beforehand, since those won't be available online. Also note that a few Live Auction items and Art wall items will be viewable online, but you can only bid on those at the event.
How can I sign up to bid?
Register and create a bidder account by clicking here and then clicking "Register to Bid" in the upper right-hand corner. You’ll be prompted to set up a profile, but you won't need to enter your credit card unless you decide to bid on an item. We highly recommend you do this ahead of the event so you're ready to bid right away, but we'll have staff on site to walk you through the set-up process just in case.
Do I need to use my own phone, tablet, or computer to bid?
Yes. And this makes bidding super convenient—you'll receive live text and email updates about the auction throughout the night! We'll have charging stations available at the venue.
My great-aunt / neighbor / pediatrician / barista wants to bid on auction items. Can they?
Yes! The auction will be public, so you can send the above auction link to anyone who'd like to bid remotely.
When does the online auction go live?
One week before the event! Friday, October 26, 3pm. Start bidding, win "buy it now" items, and GET EXCITED! Auction closes at 10pm the night of the event, Friday, November 2.
Why are we doing all this?!
To raise money for PS10’s PTA! Every penny supports our students and programs. Did you know the PTA raises $300 per student each year, and pays for teacher's aides, music enrichment and chess in the classroom, and recess coaches? And so much more. To find out more about what the PTA funds, visit our website
I’m sold! How can I buy tickets?
Click here to buy online, or stop by the PTA office to pay via cash or check. (And don't forget, tickets are cheaper if you buy in advance.)
We can’t wait to see you there!
