[Daily Case Update] One Positive Case of COVID
Wed, Mar 16 5:06pm

Dear PS 107 Families,

Today, one positive case of COVID was reported to me. The individual testing positive was last in the building yesterday, 3/15.

All families whose children who shared space with this individual were notified directly by me via email (NOT Konstella) today. This case involved exposure to the afterschool community and those families will be notified by Sandy Phillips. All students at PS 107 were sent home with COVID test kits on Monday, so no new test kits will be sent home today.

This Friday, we will again be sending home test kits with every student. Please plan to test your child on Sunday evening or Monday morning before school. You will test them again on Thursday evening or Friday morning. This is slightly different from the recommended testing timeline given in the past and is designed to catch possible positive cases before students come to school on Monday, and again after they have been around other students for the majority of the week.

Finally, my daily reminders:

  • Per DOE guidance, we strongly recommend that students who are in close contact with an individual testing positive wear a well-fitting mask through Day 10 following exposure.
  • Students who are not fully vaccinated and are exposed outside of school must still quarantine following exposure. If your child is in this category, please reach out to Pamela Rosenberg to determine the length of your child's quarantine.
  • If students have symptoms of COVID, they may not attend school and must get tested for COVID, either with an at-home test or a lab test. Please review the Health Screening Questionnaire for specific details about testing if your child has COVID symptoms.
  • Please continue to report all positive COVID tests to me and to Pamela Rosenberg.

The DOE's official notification about these cases is attached. As always, please reach out with questions or concerns.

my best,

Ms Joanna
