Dear PS 107 Families,

First, just a reminder that students who are unvaccinated and a close contact of a positive case of COVID where they were exposed outside of school, still have to quarantine for up to 10 days. (On Day 5 of quarantine, students may take a COVID test, and if negative, they can return to school on Day 8).

This rule differs from the rule when unvaccinated students are exposed to COVID in school where the "test to stay" policy is in place. There are complicated reasons for these apparently incongruous rules, which relate to what the CDC has approved for in-school versus out-of-school close contact situations. If you have questions about this, please let me know.

Now for today's case update. These cases were reported to me between Sunday morning and today at 3 pm:

  • 3 positive cases
    • All cases involved exposure to the school community, as the individuals testing positive were in the building last week
  • 91% of students were in attendance in the building today

All parents whose children were in classrooms of individuals testing positive received an email (NOT a Konstella) directly from me earlier today. These students brought home test kits today.

Two of the three cases also resulted in after-school exposures, and parents should have received an email directly from Sandy Phillips about those cases.

The DOE's official notification letter to the community is attached.

We are clearly not out of the woods yet, so please continue to remain vigilant for possible COVID symptoms. As always, do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

my best,

Ms Joanna

PS Our delivery of Imagination Playground is delayed to tomorrow, Tuesday. We expect to get it set up and ready for students to play with by Thursday. Thank you so much for your donations in support of this!
