CHiPS Support: Your Donations Are Still Critical
The recent government shutdown has ended, and SNAP benefits (food stamps) have been reinstated.
However, the threat to food security is far from over. A serious new dispute has emerged: The Agriculture Department is moving to withhold federal administrative funding from over 20 states that have refused to share sensitive personal data about SNAP recipients with the Trump administration.
Losing this funding won't directly cut the food benefits right now, but it will severely disrupt the state's ability to run the program—leaving millions of vulnerable families in jeopardy.
Our Call to Action: Be the Safety Net
Despite the conclusion of our food drive competition, the need in our community is urgent and ongoing. We have the power to step up and ensure our neighbors don't go without. We strongly ask all families to continue donating what you can. Your generous support provides a vital, reliable safety net and is the most effective way we can ensure food security for local families during this uncertain time.
WHEN: Every Wednesday morning during drop-off - rain or shine!!
GOAL: Fill 8-10 Fresh Direct bags full of donations each week! For reference we were sending close to 15-18 bags worth of items to CHiPS each week during the food drive competition.
Making a Difference, Your Way
We recognize and deeply appreciate everyone's consideration and willingness to give. We know there are many worthy causes, and we are thankful for whatever way you choose to express your generosity this holiday season—be it through contributions to our weekly CHiPS collection, the book drive, making a holiday card for seniors, or a gift to the Annual Fund.
With gratitude,
Your Aid & Action Committee
