A Note From Your PTA: Supporting School for Next Year
Tue, May 12 1:58pm

PS 107 Families,

We hope this message finds you and your family safe and healthy. We miss seeing everyone in our PS 107 school building.

In this uncertain and difficult time, we know families are facing many challenges. Unfortunately, these challenges are shared by federal, state, and local budgets, as well. As we move forward into the next year, we anticipate that our school will face major budget cuts, so we are working to ensure that PS 107 is in the best possible financial position.

An important way for our community to help the school is by giving to the Annual Fund. The more that we collectively raise, the better position PS 107 will be in once we have more information about what 2020-2021 will hold. Our Annual Fund goal for this year is $250,000, and so far we have raised $170,000.

This is an opportunity for us to ensure that our school has all the necessary resources to meet the educational and social/emotional needs of all our children. With your help, we aim to continue to fund the following:

  • Extra days for our guidance counselor in this traumatic time
  • Mitigating large class sizes
  • Providing visual arts and music
  • Funding teachers’ professional development

In addition to the budget cuts that will affect schools across the city, the PTA was unable to hold the auction, which typically brings in $60,000, and other fundraising events this spring, so we are facing a serious shortfall.

We understand that not every family is in a position to contribute right now.

For those who are able, please help our children’s school to be as strong as possible, whatever may come, by giving to the Annual Fund now. Gifts made before June will have the biggest impact on our planning and decisions for next year.

Thank you. We are PS 107.

With gratitude,

PTA Board
