Dear PS 107 Families,
I wanted to share one additional, very useful resource on helping children process the events of today. I've attached Helping Children Cope after a Traumatic Event, from the Child Mind Institute. You can also access it online here. It provides a lot of detail about how to support children at various ages and developmental levels.
I am also writing to inform you that I was notified of 2 positive cases of COVID today. Parents whose children shared classroom space with the individuals testing positive were notified earlier via Operoo. The DOE's official notification letter is attached.
Finally, we are in the process of sending home COVID test kits for Spring Break. We sent kits home with PreK-2nd grade students today and hope to get them out to 3rd-5th grade students tomorrow (we are waiting for additional kits to be delivered to PS 107). As a reminder, children should be tested on Saturday, April 23rd and 24 hours later, on Sunday, April 24th. All positive results must be reported to me and Pamela Rosenberg.
I know that we are all holding our loved ones a little bit tighter tonight. As a Sunset Park resident whose child regularly takes the N train to school, I certainly am.
take good care,
