Dear PS107 Families,
As you may already know, the DOE announced yesterday its plans to provide only one more opt-in period for blended learning this year instead of the quarterly opt-in cycles they had initially promised. This came as a surprise to all of us.
The new opt-in window for blended learning is from Monday November 2nd through Sunday November 15th.
In-person learning for 'new' students will begin between November 30th and December 7th. The exact date will be shared with you later in November.
We understand the intent of this decision is to promote stability and continuity for our students, in-person or remote. That's important. It can take time to adjust to a new classroom, a new teacher, and new expectations and routines. Having fewer disruptions is better for learning.
However, we also understand that your circumstances may change, and that you may need more flexibility as the year progresses. If this is the case for you, please reach out to us. While we are still subject to social distancing capacity limits in our classrooms, we will make every effort to accommodate your request.
And as before, please let us know in advance if you plan to move your child from in-person to remote instruction.
The Learning Preference Survey will be available on the DOE website next Monday. You need only submit the survey if you are seeking to change from all-remote to in-person learning.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
