Climate Strike Info

Dear PS107 Families,

Tomorrow many school children and families around the globe will be uniting in a Climate Strike, organized by 16 year-old Swedish activist, Greta Thunberg.  The rally begins in Foley Square at noon, followed by a march to Battery Park.  The DOE has announced that any students who miss school to attend the rally will be given an excused absence.  Please let your child's teacher know if you take your child to the rally so we can make sure our attendance records are correct.

This week and next our teachers will be sharing videos and articles with their students about climate, climate change, and about Greta's personal quest to make a positive change in the world.  She is a wonderful role model for us all, and one who has inspired our diversity theme around building empathy and empowering our children to make a difference.

Next Friday, 9/27, climate action week culminates in an International Earth Strike.  We are planning to mark the event with our own demonstration of support.   I will let you know the details as soon as our plans are finalized.

Sincerely,

Eve
