There are some informative, interesting and very worthwhile events taking place around our community in the coming weeks. I hope you can make it to some of them. See below for details:

 

FILM SCREENING: I AM NOT A RACIST, AM I?

Date: Thursday, October 18th

Time: 6:30pm

Location, PS 321, 180 7th Avenue, Brooklyn

Please join us on Thursday, October 18th at 6:30 pm in the auditorium for to watch “I Am Not a Racist, Am I?” 12 NYC teens were asked to spend one year talking about racism. This film tracks their journey through 5 intense workshops. We hope that by watching their experience, it will inspire us to recognize and interrupt racism in our own lives. A trained facilitator will guide a conversation after the 90 minute film. Tickets are $5, available HERE. This film is not recommended for children under the age of 13.

The seminar Raising Resilient Girls presented by Simone Marean CEO of Girls Leadership focuses on practical, actionable advice that you can use to help support the young girl or girls in your life. The presentation covers the development of girl dynamics from pre-school through high school.

Free: MOBILE NO-COST BREAST CANCER SCREENING PROGRAM HOSTED BY ASSEMBLYMEMBER CARROLL

Date: Friday, November 9th

Time: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Location: Mammogram Bus will be at Assemblymember Robert Carroll's District Office, 416 7th Avenue between 13th and 14th Streets, Brooklyn

Assemblymember Robert Carroll will host a Mobile No-Cost Breast Cancer Screening Program on Friday, November 9 from 9am to 4:30pm.  For an appointment, please call 877.628.9090 (English and Spanish). Walk-ins may be available but best to schedule an appointment. All women 40-79, currently living in NYC, who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months are eligible. The services are being provided at no cost - no co-pays required, deductibles are waived, and uninsured patients are welcome. Please bring insurance information, if available.
