Community Outreach March Newsletter
Wed, Mar 30 12:33pm

Hello 107-

March has been so busy, and this month's newsletter is chock full with a recap of all the good work our school community has accomplished, along with several exciting volunteer opportunities ahead,

We'd like to reiterate here a huge THANK YOU to all who helped make this month's events so robust and successful.  More details are inside, but worth repeating here as well.

  • $3650 raised for Save the Children Ukraine!  An incredible outpouring of support from teachers, kids, parents, grandparents rallied for this bake sale on short notice and channeled everyone's energy and desire to help into action.  Classrooms and aftershool programs made thoughtful signs and cards of caring and solidarity, and a few hours of effort turned some baked goods into real material support. Stay tuned for updates on other on-going aid efforts happening throughout our broader Park Slope community.
  •  $1100 of  books and supplies packaged for Reading Partners! Immediately following the bake sale, our families stepped up again with donations for local community needs as well, helping to put together over 100 supply kits and a huge stack of new, diverse books for the K-8 kids who participate in this literacy mentorship program.

Make sure to check out the fantastic book recommendations included in the newsletter in honor of Women's History Month - even though we're on the final days of the month, it's never too late to bring focus to amazing female narratives and role models!  Many thanks to Cynthia Thaler for her expertise pulling these together.

We hope to see you at one/all of the upcoming events for April!
