Heritage Day at PS 107 is this Saturday, January 24th from 12-3 pm. This event is free and held indoors at our school.
New to 107 or never been to Heritage Day before? Heritage Day is a chance for families in our school to share your background and introduce our community to the wonderful traditions, foods, sights, and sounds that are your cultural touchstones. Classrooms will be transformed into different countries and regions, and children will be given a “passport” upon entry to the school with the opportunity to travel the world! Every experience on the passport tells a story: a story of family, traditions, and journeys passed down through generations. Celebrating these stories helps make everyone feel welcome in our beautiful community
An ask for attendees: This year, we’re asking for a little extra care as we move through Heritage Day — slowing down to engage with the exhibits and the families hosting them, not just collecting passport stamps or snacks. Sharing one’s heritage takes time, energy, and vulnerability, and thoughtful participation helps ensure every family feels seen and welcomed at PS 107.
Safety Notice: All members of the family are welcome at this event – do look out for some of our littlest travelers like younger toddler siblings who may have a tendency to roam about the school! And please remind all children not to run inside the building, especially on the stairs. Keeping events safe for everyone helps to ensure their legacy.
