With the PTA budget recently approved, it’s the perfect time to take a quick look at how fundraising works at PS107.
The PTA raises and spends approximately $500,000 each year. So where does it come from—and where does your generosity go?
Where it comes from:
-
Events (49%) – Fundraising events such as the Auction, Fall Festival, Movie Nights, Spring Fling, Photo Days, and much more.
-
Annual Fund (46%) – Direct contributions from families and community members.
- Other (5%) – Includes 5th Grade fundraisers and various ad hoc initiatives.
Where it goes:
-
DOE Shortfall (43%) - PS 107 relies on PTA dollars to supplement DOE funding, which consistently falls short of what's needed for basic operations and essential school programs. This gap is $215,000 this year. The annual fund is a campaign of direct gifts that, together with revenue from PTA-sponsored events, directly supplements PS 107's operating budget.
-
Student programming and school support (37%) - Funding goes towards professional development, capital improvements, residencies and enrichment, community events, teacher grants, principal requests, and more.
-
Fundraising events (20%) - It costs money to make money!
Our Annual Fund goal for 2025-2026 is $225,000. Want to give now? Here’s how!
