Dear PS 107 Community,

We are delighted to personally invite your school community’s educators and families to join us for a free community-wide Gender Expression Workshop on gender identity, expression, and inclusion created by BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange in collaboration with PS 261 this spring. These workshops are open to all, including LGBTQIA+-identifying and allies, curious to understand, support, and expand their communities' conversations around gender identity and expression.

Through fun drama-based activities facilitated by BAX ArtsEducator and Drag Performer, Kelindah, participants will review foundational terms and build a shared vocabulary, engage in embodied role play, and explore conversations to help build more inclusive understandings and age appropriate practices around gender identity and expression. This will also include some information from Kalima McKenzie-Simms, Manager of LGBTQ+ Programs for the DOE Office of Student and Youth Development, about policy and expectations around LGBTQIA aspects of the K-12 curriculum for NYC schools, including issues such as gender identity and expression.
