Hello from your Computer Science/Technology Teacher!
Sat, Sep 16 9:10am

Dear PS 107 Families,

Welcome back!  I am excited to be the school’s new Computer Science/Technology Teacher this year.  Prior to this role, I taught 4th grade ICT for two years and 3rd grade for three years at 107 and have been with the Department  of Education for 12 years now.  Over the last two years, I have prepared for this role by participating in many professional development and training opportunities.

Currently, I am a Certified Brain POP Educator, a Microsoft Innovative Educator and a Google Level 2 Educator.  I have also taken courses with Code.org and Scratch through the Department of Education.

This year I will be teaching K-2 all year and then will be rotating 12 week residencies with 4th grade, 5th grade and finishing with 3rd grade in the spring.

In K-1, we will be utilizing the iPads as an introduction and will sample a plethora of apps  that will be fun and engaging as an entry point into the technology world at PS 107.  I will also be keeping in mind their need to be moving around so we will incorporate lots of stations and activities throughout the class.

Our upper grade classes will include but will not be limited to Digital Citizenship through Common Sense Education,  keyboarding and word processing, presentation options such as PowerPoint and Google Slides, and coding/programming including unplugged activities.

I am looking forward to a great year getting your child digitally ready.  My email is marybeth@ps107.org.

For Curriculum Night, I am available in the cafeteria from:

5- 5:45pm for grades 3-5 and

6:15- 7pm for grades K-2.

Wishing you a fantastic year,

Marybeth Gazlay
