Positive COVID case, but NO EXPOSURE TO THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY (and a Thanksgiving message)
Wed, Nov 24 4:49pm

Dear PS 107 Families and Staff,

I apologize for sending this note on the eve of Thanksgiving, but I am required to let you know that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19.

Upon investigation, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and the NYC Test & Trace Corps (T2) have concluded that there has been NO EXPOSURE to the school community because the person was NOT at school while infectious. Please see the attached letter for details.

We at PS 107 recommend — if you are gathering with people outside of your immediate household — that you have your family tested before returning to school on Monday. This will help us continue to stem the spread of COVID-19. Some recommendations for testing locations that generally provide quick and free results include:

Today, the school was abuzz with excitement about the coming holiday and the chance to see friends and family. Students and teachers prepared treats (I personally got to have hot cocoa and a delicious scone thanks to PreK-107) and created meaningful projects together (evidence attached).

Though we are still in the midst of uncertain times, I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope that you are able to take a moment to reflect about the many things we have to be grateful for, including this very special school community. I am so incredibly grateful for all of you - students, staff, families. Hold your loved ones tight, eat lots of delicious food, laugh, and take some time for you . We all need this right now.

Warmly,

Ms Joanna
