Dear PS107 Families,

Today, for those of you whose children are here in-person, we are finally one big family again under the gabled roof of our beloved 107. It was no small feat, but we did it!  And it's been heart-warming to hear the excited chatter and laughter of the kids in the hallways and yards, giving all of us hope for a more normal future.

A few notes for In-Person families:

  • Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school.  Apart from the two bottle fillers that are still in operation, all water fountains are still shut off.
  • For most grades, lunch will be eaten outdoors, weather-permitting. Children should wear comfortable clothing, appropriate for "picnicking" in the yards.
  • In addition to lunch recess, all classes have one extra period of outdoor play time each day.
  • And, finally, please communicate with Pamela and your child's teacher if you have traveled internationally, or if your child is under the weather.  We urge you to be our health partners to help keep our classrooms open.

This week our in-person 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students who OPT IN will be taking the NYS Mathematics ExamIf you haven't already, please let your child's teacher know if your child will be taking the test.  It will be administered on Wednesday morning with Thursday intended as the make up day.  Remote students who are taking the test should come to the building on Tuesday May 11th at 8:45am. (Remote Parents: Pamela has already been in touch with you with the test schedule. Please reach out to her if you didn't receive her email.)

This year, the DOE and the Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) have partnered to create a comprehensive summer school program called Summer Rising. The program will integrate academics with school-based enrichments provided by a Community Based Organization each school has been partnered with. It is free and is open to all students in grades K-5.  The program runs from July 6th through August 20th, 8am-6pm daily (M-F). While you may register your child in any of the host schools, we are affiliated with PS130 at 70 Ocean Parkway.  We will share more information, especially whether transportation to and from the site will be provided, as it becomes available. Please use this link to register: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/dycd/services/SummerRising.page

Thank you for your support throughout this difficult year. We look forward to the next two months of school, delighted to know that our in-person students have this precious time together.  We see this as a harbinger of good things to come!

Sincerely,

Eve
