School News - Week 9 Remote Learning
Fri, May 22 5:10pm

Dear PS107 Families,

I hope you and your children are well. It's hard to believe that Memorial Day weekend is here already. There are only 5 more weeks of school!

Back in the building, June is usually a busy month, full of field trips and classroom projects. Although we can't go on real field trips now, our classes will be taking some virtual field trips together, and will be doing some project-based learning during these last weeks. Our teachers will be using some of their time for June planning, in preparation for whatever form school might take in September.

This summer, the Department of Education will be providing remote summer school for students in grades 3-5 who need more support in academic subjects. You may have seen a letter about it from the Chancellor earlier this week. We don't have many other details except that they have changed the dates for elementary students. Summer school will begin on July 6th and run until August 13th. Please speak to your child's teacher if you are interested in learning more about the program.

I'm sorry to share the news that Angela Bonney, one of our School Aides, will be leaving PS107 to return to her home in England. Angela played a very positive role with our students in Kindergarten, First, and Second grades during lunchtime and recess. She will be missed!

On Friday June 5th, I'll be hosting an open "Coffee with the Principal" Zoom meeting for any parents who want to attend. It will be from 9-10am. I'll post the link to join the meeting when the date is closer.

As you know, Monday is a national holiday and the teachers will be off that day. I hope they, and all of you, have a wonderful weekend in store. Please stay safe.
