Supporting our sister school and some heartbreaking news

Dear PS 107 Families,

The Diversity Committee has been honored to share with you some resources for your family and the Community Outreach Committee would like to share some more ways to support our Asian neighbors.

The families at our sister school, PS 169 in Sunset Park have had a particularly hard year, and we’ve been so grateful to be able support them with grocery deliveries, laptops, art supplies, and holiday toys for their kindergarten classes. They now ask that you please consider giving to Middle School 136/Charles O Dewey. Many of PS 169 alumni and older siblings attend MS 136, which has a strong immigrant Chinese community.

Your family can also consider donating your time to South Brooklyn Mutual Aid, which supports school families and individuals in Sunset Park and neighborhoods further south. They are looking for volunteers to pack or deliver groceries. You can read more about other ways to get involved with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid by signing up for their newsletter. There are several opportunities to support South Brooklyn communities, include donating clothing or diapers, serving as a Spanish/Mandarin/English interpreter, and more.

And finally, we are heartbroken to learn that one of our PS 169 families has reported their oldest daughter missing. She was last seen on Thursday night walking to the subway. Her name is Brittany and she also goes by Brisnydth. She went to Sunset Park Prep for middle school and started high school this year. If you have any information about her, please call the police immediately.

Thank you for supporting our neighbors in Brooklyn.
