Calling all D15 families, teachers and administrators to support our Public Schools that have been negatively impacted by the State's Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) list.
Come represent D15 at the Mayor's Panel for Educational Policy Meeting with Schools Chancellor Carranza.
This meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the High School of Fashion Industries (225 W 24th St, New York, NY 10011). Public comment sign up begins at 5:30 p.m.
Let's show up IN FORCE to stand up for all NYC schools listed on the State's CSI list of "struggling schools". Demand that our City tells Albany:
- Stop shaming NYC Schools based on flawed measures and faulty data!
- Stop disproportionately punishing schools that mirror the diversity of New York City!
Instead of judging schools based on test scores and chronic absenteeism, which tend to reflect parent income and access, let's look at class size, availability of arts and gym classes and recess, social-emotional supports and restorative justice practices, teacher and administrator qualifications, ELL and IEP services, counselor to student ratios, and library access!
Thank you for your support!
