P.S. 107's Community Outreach Committee is running a bunch of collection drives this spring. (Marie Kondo would be proud of us!) Here's the line up so you can plan accordingly!

  • Week of May 6th - STAR Project Collection. We will be collecting shoes to donate to refugees living in Yemen, Somalia, Jordan and Bangladesh. Watch this video to learn more. Mark Grashow, a PS 107 parent who runs the project, will be visiting 4th and 5th grade classes during the collection drive. A small group of 4th and 5th graders will help pack the shoes into boxes.

We'll need volunteers! Shifts include: Mon-Fri 8:20-8:45AM You'll be moving each morning's collection into storage and then you can race to work. And on a weekend in late May or early June, we'll need drivers to help transport the boxes to a shipping container in Greenpoint.

  • May 10th Cinco de Mayo Celebration at our sister school, P.S. 169, Sunset Park School, 4305 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11232; (That’s at the corner of 44/45th street and 7th Avenue) Doors open at 5:45 Closer to May 10th, we'll coordinate travel together.

  • May 11th - Brooklyn PTA 5K Fun Run - Starting point will be Bartel Pritchard Square. More info to come.

  • Week of May 20th Book Swap  (Rain date week of May 28th) Just like at Fall Fest! We'll set up tables during pickup, you can drop off books you no longer need, and buy new ones for $1. The money raised and the remaining books go to our sister school, P.S. 169. We'll need student volunteers to help sort the books, and parents to help drive the books to P.S. 169.

  • Week of June 3rd - City Harvest Food Drive and tied into final First Friday of the Year on June 7th. We'll need volunteers! Shifts include: Mon-Fri 8:20-8:45AM You'll be moving each morning's collection into storage and then you can race to work.

  • June 13th, 12:30 - A group of 3rd - 5th graders will be giving a musical performance at Bishop Boardman Senior Community on 8th Avenue.
