Dear PS 107 Families,
Ms. Joanna needs your help!
We’re looking to fill two important volunteer roles to support PS 107’s communications — one related to the school’s website and one for our social media presence. Please see below for more details and reach out if you or someone you know might be a good fit.
1. Website Design Volunteer (Squarespace experience)
Mrs. Joanna is looking for a parent with web design experience and familiarity with Squarespace to assist with occasional updates to the school website. This role requires just a couple of hours every few months, but the hope is that the volunteer could stay involved until their child graduates. Tasks might include updating event pages, adding newsletters, or improving layout and design. In addition, she’s looking for a Website Accessibility Volunteer-*this could be the same person or a different person-but this would be a parent who understands web accessibility standards and can help PS 107 improve its accessibility score. This person would ideally:
- Run accessibility assessments on the current site
- Identify problem areas (e.g., color contrast, text formatting, alt text)
- Collaborate with the web design volunteer to implement needed changes
While the initial review may require more time, this role is project-based and can be flexibly scheduled.
If you’re interested in the website role(s), please email Mrs. Joanna directly at jcohen72@schools.nyc.gov.
2. Social Media Lead (Instagram only)
We’re also looking for a new Social Media Lead to keep our PS 107 Instagram active and engaging. This person would:
- Post about 1x/day on average (including stories and reels)
- Use a shared content spreadsheet with PTA/event submissions
- Work closely with Mrs. Joanna and the PTA to stay up to date on events
- Ideally attend PTA general meetings to stay in the loop
You don’t need to be on the PTA board, but it helps to have a foot in both school and PTA happenings. A good eye for visuals and a creative, proactive spirit are big pluses!
If you’re interested in the social media role, or have questions, feel free to reach out to [your name/email or Mrs. Joanna, depending on who will field this].
Thank you in advance for your time and talents. Our community thrives because of the dedication of parent volunteers like you!
