Does your child love to perform? In addition to hands-on creative workshops throughout the school, there will also be a full schedule of performances on the 4th Floor during Art Day, on December 2nd from 12-4pm. Contact Nancy Lin if your child would like to dance, play an instrument, perform magic, etc.
Please check out all the opportunities to volunteer at Art Day on Konstella. We have a bunch of ideas for Art Day workshops but need volunteers to make them happen! Please email Arts Committee co-chairs Becky Hutcheson and Sarah Harlow for more information.
Big Apple Awards
The deadline for nominations is one week away! Do you know an amazing teacher who deserves special recognition? You can celebrate an outstanding teacher in our community by nominating them for the sixth annual Big Apple Awards, which recognize teachers throughout New York City who inspire students, model great instruction, and enrich their school communities.
Anyone can submit a Big Apple Awards nomination—parents, students, teachers, staff, and community members; and any full-time district, charter, or early childhood education center teacher may be nominated. A Big Apple Awards nomination is a great way to show your appreciation to a teacher for all they do! Submit your nomination online by Monday, November 27.
Brooklyn Nets vs Milwaukee Bucks
PS107 is going to see the Brooklyn Nets! We have 50 tickets reserved together as a group in section 213 for the Sunday, February 4 game at 12pm against the Milwaukee Bucks. (This is Super Bowl Sunday but you will have plenty of time to get home in time for the game.) Two lucky kids will also get a chance to join the Nets Hype Team on the court during a timeout! Tickets are $25 each plus processing fees. Click here to purchase tickets.
The Community Outreach committee is partnering with New York Cares to bring relief to tens of thousands of New Yorkers through our 2017 Coat Drive. Drop off new or gently used coats (any size) during First Friday (December 1) and Art Day (December 2). To double our impact, Bloomberg is matching each coat donation from the PS107 community!
Don’t have a coat to donate, but still want to help? $20 buys one coat + a match = 2 coats Click here to donate online. To make sure your donation is matched, be sure to enter Bloomberg – PS 107 in the "Department" section of the form. You can use your preferred email (where the form asks for a Bloomberg email).
Foley Trees Fundraiser
The Foley Christmas Tree Stand, on 8th Avenue and 8th Street, re-opens for the holiday season this Saturday, November 25th. Foley Firs will donate a portion of sales to PS107 when customers mention our school. Tell your friends and neighbors, too! Last year we also earned a bonus for the total number of sales, bringing in $2,400 for our school! Foley Firs offers free delivery and setup, and you can even order your trees online.
Grandparents and Special Friends Day
Please invite grandparents and other special family friends to visit PS107 on Friday, December 1. Guests will participate in First Friday activities in children’s classrooms, followed by a special breakfast in the cafeteria hosted by the PTA. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open for business!
Scholastic Book Fair
Get ready for the Scholastic Book Fair! This annual fundraiser is a great way to get kids excited about reading, earn books for our classrooms, and raise money for our school! The book fair will be open for business during school hours from November 27th through December 1st, including about thirty minutes before drop-off and after dismissal. Come browse Scholastic’s best selection of books for children and adults. Get a head start on your holiday shopping, or choose a book to donate to your child’s classroom. Teachers will have a chance to preview the book sale and add selections to their wish lists, which will be on display at the book fair.
To volunteer, please see the Sign-Up on Konstella. Classroom visiting times have just been added, so check the full description if you would like to come when your child’s class will be shopping. As a volunteer, you get to help the children choose books, ring them up, and restock our book fair. It is so much fun to see how much the students love browsing through the wide variety of books. If you have an hour or two, please sign up to help! Don't forget to bring your photo ID to sign in at the security desk when you arrive.
