Committee Updates:

Community Outreach Committee
P.S. 169 Sunset Park School invites all PS107 families to their annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Friday, February 9, featuring the lion dance team from Chinatown's famous Wan Chi Ming Hung Gar Institute. The event begins at 6pm in the auditorium at Sunset Park School, located at 7th Avenue and 43rd Street in Brooklyn. Visit the Social Group chat forum on Konstella if you’re interested in meeting up and traveling with other PS107 families.

Heritage Day
Save the date for Heritage Day on Saturday, March 10, from 12 to 3pm, when our school will be transformed into a global showcase of more than 20 states and countries. After picking up passports at the door, our kids “travel” across the U.S. and around the globe, learning about other cultures through crafts, food, demonstrations, and more. Share your family’s cultural background by putting together a display, or showcasing a dance, song, or performance on the 4th floor. Please e-mail co-chairs Shelly Auster and Desiree Cassese for more information.

Learning Friends
Do you love books? Do you love kids?! We are currently seeking new volunteers to read with a kindergarten buddy every week for half an hour. No teaching experience required! Our mission is to share our love of books with young readers and spark the joy of reading. If you are available one day a week from 8:30-9am and would like to volunteer, please contact committee chairs Erin Bogaty or Susie Jen.

Come join the fun at MathMagic! each Wednesday morning at 7:30am on the 4th floor. Kids and their parents will enjoy math enrichment activities through math problems, games, and challenges. All ages are welcome!

PS107 Read-A-Thon
We will be kicking off the 4th Annual PS107 Read-A-Thon with a Schoolwide Pajama Day on Thursday, February 15th (the last day before mid-winter break). Please join us that morning for our monthly PTA meeting, too!

Read-A-Thon instructions and sponsor forms will be sent home via backpack mail and Konstella. Our neighborhood bookstore Powerhouse has generously agreed to sponsor of our Read-A-Thon! Mention the PS107 Read-A-Thon for 20% off any children’s book purchases from February 5 through March 3.
