4th + 5th Grade Book Club
Please note that the 4th + 5th Grade Book Club has been postponed to Tuesday, May 15th, at 7:30am. All are welcome to join for a discussion of The War that Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley, which follows a 10-year-old girl who escapes her abusive mother to go and live in the country during World War II. Please email Ann Givens with any questions.

Brooklyn Cyclones
PS107 is going to the Brooklyn Cyclones! Join us on Sunday, June 24th at 4pm for a fun, family-friendly game at Coney Island MCU Park. Tickets are $17 plus handling fees, and include some fun perks for the kids. For seats in our section, be sure to purchase your tickets using this special link for PS107: https://groupmatics.events/PS107 (code: PS107). Hope to see you at the game!

MathMagic!
Join us this Wednesday, May 9, at 7:30am, when Brooklyn Game Lab will be returning once again to host a special morning of math-inspired games and activities with our students. Everyone is welcome; students in grades K-2 must be accompanied by parents.

PTA Fun Run
The 11th Annual PTA Fun Run in Prospect Park is coming up this Saturday, May 12th! Register today for this family-friendly walk/jog/run through our neighborhood park to raise money for ALL participating Brooklyn PTAs. To register, go to: https://nycruns.com/races/?race=brooklyn-pta-5k-fun-run-for-schools

Please register family members together under one name rather than individually to make the most of the funding formula ($20 for the first registrant, $5 for each additional family member up to 5). Competitive runners and families alike—everyone is welcome! Registration and Sign-in begins at 9:00am on Saturday and the “race” begins at 10:00am. If you have any questions about joining our group, please email angela@ps107.org.

PS107 PTA + SLT Elections
We’ll be holding elections at the next monthly PTA meeting on Thursday, May 17 at 6:30pm for positions on the PTA Executive Board and the School Leadership Team for the 2018-19 school year. If you’re interested in a position, or think you know someone who would be great in one of these roles, please contact the nominations committee at elections@ps107.org. The nominating committee will reach out to individuals who have been nominated to provide more information and encourage them to fill the position. Please click here to learn more about openings for the upcoming school year.

Schoolwide Lice Check
Please note that our next schoolwide lice check will be on Tuesday. The DOE has a “no head lice” policy for all NYC public schools, but no longer a “no nit” policy. Students found to have live head lice will be sent home and not allowed to return until they are lice-free. Students with nits and no evidence of live head lice will not be excluded from school. However, as a courtesy to parents, if your child is found to have nits during one of the lice checks, you will be informed.

Spring Photo Day
This Thursday, May 10 is our second annual photo day fundraiser. Please encourage your child to have fun with these photos and let their personality shine! Unlike the fall photos, no advance payment is required. Parents will receive a link to view photos and the option to purchase those you like. If you’d like to get a photo of siblings together, please arrive before school begins that day, between 7:45-8:15am. If you can volunteer to help at any point throughout the day, please sign up on Konstella.

Teacher + Staff Appreciation Day Potluck Sign Up
Please help us show our appreciation to the Teachers + Staff at PS107! Please sign up on Konstella to bring a treat for a Potluck breakfast and luncheon on Tuesday, May 8th. You can drop off items in the office anytime after 7:30am. Make sure that all items are clearly marked as there are nut, dairy, and gluten allergies in the building.
