Committee Updates:

Spring Fling!
Get ready for our annual Spring Fling family dance this Thursday, May 31 from 6:30-8:30pm in the big yard. Enjoy a live DJ, photo booth, and dancing outdoors with the PS107 community! Pizza, baked goods, and beverages will be available for sale.  Please sign up on Konstella to volunteer an hour of your time or to donate items for the bake sale. This is a parent-run event and we need lots of help!!

Please note that this is not a drop-off event; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Afterschool will operate as usual with 6pm dismissal for all students. Doors open at 6:30pm and entry costs $5 per person or $15 for the entire family.

This Wednesday is the final MathMagic! morning of the year and we're capping it off with our math store. Kids should remember to bring their math bucks to shop.

We are losing two of our current parent volunteers for MathMagic! next year and are looking for other parents who may be able to assist. Please email leila@tonicgroup.com for more details or catch Leila or Chance at Wednesday's meeting if you are interested in helping. The quality of the program relies on multiple hands, ideas, and a distribution of time and effort to keep each week engaging and as interactive as possible for the kids.

Lastly, our final t-shirt order is a little delayed. Please email Leila at leila@tonicgroup.com if your child did not get a shirt and we will coordinate getting that to him/her before the school year ends.

First Friday
This Friday, June 1, is our last First Friday of the school year, when parents are invited to participate in their child’s classroom during first period. This month we will be celebrating the publication of "One Special Parrot: The Story of Calixte," written by the PS107 fifth graders with input from the Wildlife Conservation Society. The book will be available for sale at First Friday, or you may  pre-order here to have your copy delivered to your child’s classroom.

This year-long project was a collaboration between P.S. 107’s Beast Relief committee and the Wildlife Conservation Society, and all proceeds will go directly to the Wildlife Conservation Society African gray parrot rescue and rehab program.

Fairway Community Partners
Next Tuesday, June 5 is Double Day, when Fairway will double their standard 3% donation to our school when you scan your PS107 Fairway Community Partners card at checkout. Need a Fairway Community Partners card? Email Bobby@ps107.org or ask in the main office. Each card comes with two key tags to keep on your keychain and share with friends and family.

Beast Relief Committee
The Cinco de Rhino results are in!

The PS107 kids held 31 rhino lemonade stands around the neighborhood, and helped to raise a record-breaking $3,468 for the International Rhino Foundation this year.  The IRF has just featured our students as May’s rhino champions. You can see the video here: https://bit.ly/2s8lPBo.

Also, congratulations to our raffle-basket winners:
Wineoceros raffle basket - Ian Wood (2-201)
Kid-oceros raffle basket -  Stefan Dubrouski (3-403)

Beast Relief would like to thank everyone who contributed spare change, contributed and purchased baked goods, bought raffle tickets, and helped underwrite lemonade stands. A particular shout-out to Beast Relief co-chair Alisa de Rosa, and member Erica Jensen, who organized the remarkable event.

Beast Relief would also like to thank our generous donors, who contributed goods and services to the raffle baskets. They include: Big Nose, Full Body; Blick; Brooklyn Music Factory; Crush Management; Home Body Boutique; Libra; Lisa Waltuch Studios; Mae; Noho; Powerhouse Books; Provini; 7th Ave. Copy; SLT; Soul Cycle; ToySpace.

Afterschool Family Game Night Fundraiser
This family-friendly fundraiser is sold out! If you’ve already got your tickets, get ready for a fun-filled evening at Brooklyn Game Lab on Wednesday, June 6, to help raise funds for scholarships to the afterschool program.

Did you know that the Park Slope Afterschool Center Corp. (PSACC) is an independent, nonprofit organization directed by PS107 volunteer parents who make up the PSACC Board of Directors? PSACC is a separate entity from the PS107 PTA and families are welcome to volunteer in both organizations. Visit psafterschool.org to learn more.
