Committee Updates:

Big Yard Games!
Get ready for the inaugural Big Yard Games tomorrow, Tuesday, June 12! Kids should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers, and parents are invited to volunteer and cheer on students. See the class schedule and volunteer Signup on Konstella.

Brooklyn Cyclones
There are still a handful of tickets left for the Brooklyn Cyclones game on Sunday, June 24th at Coney Island MCU Park. Tickets are $17 each plus handling fees, and include some fun perks for the kids. Hope you can join us! Be sure to purchase your tickets using this special link for PS107: https://groupmatics.events/PS107 (code: PS107)

Community Outreach
Please donate food to help feed hungry children in our city during the summer months! The Community Outreach Committee, together with the Diversity Committee and No Place for Hate initiative, will be collecting food this week to help City Harvest stock soup kitchens, pantries, and other community programs with healthy food for children and their families this summer. Parents and children can drop off healthy, non-perishable items (no glass!) in PS107 at the table across from the main office anytime Tuesday, June 12 through Thursday, June 14. Questions about the food drive? Contact stephanie@ps107.org or hjepowell@gmail.com

Curriculum Night
Parents and guardians are invited to attend Curriculum Night on Thursday, June 14, from 5-8pm. Learn about the year-end curricula and how it supports the work on the next grade.  Teachers will also have some practical suggestions for how to keep your child engaged and learning during the summer months. Please note that there is no childcare for this event, and there is no Afterschool on June 14. For a detailed schedule, please see Ms. Eve’s letter on Konstella or email PS107 Parent Coordinator Pamela Rosenberg.

Story Pirates
Join us this Wednesday, June 13 at 6:30pm for a special evening performance by the Story Pirates, featuring works written by our very own PS107 students! Kids’ zany stories will come to life as the Story Pirates act them out in a hilarious live action show on the 4th Floor. Don’t be late! Attendance is limited to the first 125 people.

Summer Camp Offer from BrooklynAYSO Soccer
A former PS107 family, who has asked to remain anonymous, has made a generous offer to BrooklynAYSO for the benefit of the PS107 PTA. From now through the end of August, they will be donating $25 for each PS107 player who registers for a week of soccer camp with BrooklynAYSO. (AYSO also generously donated weeks of camp for our Summer Camp Auction earlier this spring, but those purchases have already benefited our PTA and are not included in this offer.)

Please visit the BrooklynAYSO Camps landing page and select the camp weeks you would like to send your child(ren): http://www.brooklynayso.org/camps.php.  If you are currently registered or have already registered for BrooklynAYSO's Fall Season, just login and go to Events and select the camp you wish to attend.

When completing the Camp Registration, please note in the Comments “PS 107 Student,” so that we can review and verify with PS107. If you have registration issues, please contact director Larry Swertloff at lswertloff@brooklynayso.net

Summer Meals Program
As part of NYC’s commitment to ensure that all children have access to nutritious meals over the summer break, Department of Education offers Summer Breakfast & Lunch to all children 18 years old and under at hundreds of public schools, community pool centers, and other locations around the city. No registration, documentation, or ID is required to receive a free breakfast or lunch.

The program will be offered weekdays from Wednesday, June 27, to Friday, August 31 (except July 4th and August 21st). Although the hours may vary by location, breakfast is typically served from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., and lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. All sites will have posters outside indicating the hours specific to that building. For additional information on meal locations, please visit: http://www.schoolfoodnyc.org/resources/Summer2018.pdf
