The Winter Craft Fair is Saturday, December 14, and we're looking for volunteers to make this amazing day happen! During the event, the big yard becomes a seasonal holiday marketplace where teachers, students, guardians, and members of the school community come together to buy and sell their home-made wares.
It’s the kind of event that can be as simple or elaborate as the organizers choose, but the critical aspects are:
- Recruit vendors from the school community (students, staff, parents/families, friends of PS 107) who are interested in making and selling home-made goods or crafts OR who own/have connections to local businesses
- Communicate with vendors about event details (arrival time, suggested PTA contribution, appropriate signage, taking payments, etc)
- Coordinating with Nadia and school facilities managers to ensure there is an appropriate space/table for each vendor on the day of the event (create a site map, oversee table set-up)
- Manage the budget with help from the treasurers (there’s a modest budget for expenses, all vendors will give a proportion of their sales to the PTA)
It could also include:
- Food/beverages - e.g. bake sale, apple cider, hot chocolate, etc (could be provided by another PTA committee)
- Music (played through the PTA speaker/PA, supervised by a parent volunteer)
- Raffle (families donate wrapped gifts and gifts are raffled off at the end of the event)
- Activities for kids (Paper Playground and Art Annex attended last year and led crafts for kids so no volunteers were needed)
- Organizing on-site volunteers, depending on the activities included
The PTA Co-Event Chairs, will be available throughout to help and troubleshoot. Last year’s organizers are also available to provide guidance.
