HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The 8th Annual PS 58 READ-A-THON is here! Friday, January 12 through Monday, February 5, we will celebrate reading as a community. Each class will have a READ-A-THON kick-off event January 12. Last year students collectively read over 503,112 minutes and FUNdraised over $36K - Amazing! It is so sweet to see how excited the kids get about this event. Each student will read their little hearts out, while working together as a class and raising money for their school.

How does the READ-A-THON work? It’s As Easy As 1-2-3. No Stress!

  1. Your kids find sponsors. Think grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbors. Anyone who is excited about your child reading and making a difference in their community. Use this as an opportunity for them to call, email, write, use social media. Send thank you notes at the end. Get them involved in the process.
  2. Log minutes daily.
  3. Collect donations and submit them to your teacher Tuesday, February 6th.

Information will be coming home in backpack mail, but you can also find the forms online - http://www.ps58brooklyn.org/2018/01/10/8th-annual-read-a-thon-starts-january-12/

Additionally, the class that reads the most minutes school-wide also receives an extra library visit along with an in-class pizza and cupcake party in March!

 Where does the money go?

The money raised supports valuable PTA funded projects such as classroom books, library budget, multi-cultural activities, field trips, enrichment programs, etc.

We have high hopes for 100% participation. Remember, students can participate without sponsors. We need your support to make the 8th Annual READ-A-THON a success. Thank you!
