Registration is open through April 20th. All payments, less the $100 registration fee, are refundable on or before May 15. If you are owed a refund a 5% charge will be deducted from the amount. Those opting for all 5 weeks, may pay in installments through June.
Please be sure to register as soon as possible. Our survey results strongly suggest that PS58 families want this summer camp to happen! In order to plan for the very best experience, we’d like to know how many campers to expect. We do plan to cap participation at 80 students per week this summer so reserve your child’s spot today!
Official camp hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm. Extended day is available from 4:30 to 5:30pm for an additional fee ($20/day). Extended care is hosted in a classroom setting where counselors will engage your child with small crafts, games and movies.
STAFF and STRUCTURE
The camp is entirely staffed by the Carroll Kids counselors your kids know and love! Students will be grouped into age-appropriate units. Each unit will consist of 6 to 20 campers and have two to five counselors, depending upon the age of the campers and the group size. Our student to counselor ratio will be 6:1. Head counselors oversee two to three groups each. We will always honor requests for campers to be placed with their friends.
Campers participate in a daily program designed around their age, needs, interests and abilities. Campers will enjoy our outdoor play spaces (large schoolyard, small schoolyard and on occasion, Carroll Park across the street), participate in fun and creative art projects and engage in many imaginative and open-ended summer activities.
For those who choose, we will swim twice a week at the Red Hook, Douglass or McCarren public pools. Campers also participate in many enrichment activities led by outside specialists, including music, movement, sports, games and nature.
We are currently planning field trips (2 to 3 per week) to include: Liberty Science Center, Prospect Park Zoo, Queens Science Museum, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, BounceU, New York Aquarium, Puppet Works Theatre, and much more. We welcome your suggestions as we’re still in the planning stages, and you can weigh in!

LUNCH / SNACKS
PS58 will be a city-wide free lunch site so those who want to partake can get lunch on site. Campers who do not want the free lunch may bring their own. As weather permits we will eat in the Schoolyard garden each day. Carroll Kids Camp will provide healthy snacks. We will also provide Weekly Wednesday lunches to the students. Every Wednesday we have a different lunch theme. For instance: pizza and popsicles, breakfast for lunch/pajama day, and (Hot) Dog day.
