General PTA Meeting via Zoom Conference—Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 1, 10am

Dear PS58 Families,
Please join us for our next General PTA Meeting tomorrow, Wednesday April 1, at 10am. All PS58 parents are members of our PTA, and everyone is encouraged to attend our meetings.
This will be our first meeting since school was suspended, and we will be conducting it through the Zoom videoconferencing platform (see details below). 
We will have a minimal agenda for this meeting—it will primarily be an opportunity for Principal Katie Dello Stritto to give updates about the school hiatus and remote learning, and for parents to ask questions. 
Please bring your concerns, suggestions and volunteer energy and join us as we continue to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 school closure.
While any PTA member can join the metting, we would ask you to RSVP if you are planning to attend so we can have an idea of numbers.

Please note the following best practices for a group video conference:
  1. Zoom is free. Meetings are best viewed with a local Zoom client (app) instead of through your browser. If you haven't done so yet, go here to download Zoom

  2. Please wear headphones if possible. Sound coming from your computer speakers can be picked up by your microphone and cause feedback. A separate mic is also preferable, but not crucial. 

  3. You will be muted upon entry into the meeting. Please only unmute if the moderator calls on you for a question/comment. If you need to unmute just for a quick comment, you can press and hold your spacebar for a "push-to-talk" feature. 

  4. By default you will be in "Speaker View" which shows a large video of the person who is speaking and smaller thumbnails of everyone else. To see everyone at once, select "Gallery View" in the upper right-hand corner. To see up to 49 people on one screen in Gallery View, go to the gear under your profile in the Zoom app, and enable that feature under Settings:Video.

  5. The meeting will be moderated by Zachary Knower and will start with PTA Co-president Linnea Olson, Principal Katie Dello Stritto, and other PTA Board members talking/presenting.

    At some point we will open the floor to general questions. If there are a large number of questions all at once, we may ask meeting attendees to use the "raise your hand" feature. This can be found under the "Participants" menu (located at the bottom of your screen on most devices). Raise your hand and the moderator will see it and call on questioners in turn (as best he can!)

    Remember when you ask your question to unmute yourself and to turn on your video.
