📅 Upcoming Events & Reminders

• 🇺🇸 Monday, Sept 7th — No School (Labor Day)

  • Enjoy the long weekend with your families! School resumes on Tuesday, September 8th.

• 🍕 Seaside Pizza Co. Dine-Out Fundraiser — Thursday, Sept 10th

  • Skip cooking and support our school! 20% of all proceeds (dine-in, delivery, & takeout) will be donated directly back to FOPBE.

  • Location: Seaside Pizza Co. (4263 Mission Blvd)

• 📸 IMPORTANT: Picture Day — Friday, Sept 11th

  • Gerardy Photography will be on campus to take individual portraits and class photos for all PBE students (featured in the school yearbook!).

  • Retake / Makeup Day: Friday, September 18th (for absent students).

• 💙 FOPBE Annual Contribution Drive Underway!

  • FOPBE’s annual budget (~$160,000) averages $500 per student across our 320 enrolled children to fund critical non-district-funded resources.

  • Funds direct support for: Teaching staff, Whole Child supervision, SD Youth Science, Garden enrichment, Field trips, Art Attack, Library books, Lexia/Achieve 3000, Teacher funds, and Community events.

  • 💳 Ways to Contribute:

    • Konstella: Donate directly in the Konstella app.

    • Online: Click Here to Donate via Credit Card, Venmo, or PayPal (include name, child's name, and teacher).

    • Zelle: Scan QR code on attached flyer (include name, child's name, and teacher in memo).
      

    • Cash/Check: Drop off at the front office (checks payable to "FOPBE").

• 🎨 Fall After-School Enrichment 

  • Classes started in August for registered students! Check schedules on the FOPBE Enrichment Page.

  • 🇪🇸 Spanish Learning: More spots have just opened up! Sign up via the FOPBE Enrichment page.

• 🤠 Mom’s Night Out at Mavericks — Thursday, Sept 17th (6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)

  • All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend! Located in the Front Party Room at Mavericks. Free to attend with sponsored appetizers provided!

  • Pro Tip: Arrive between 6:00–7:00 PM for Happy Hour pricing before Country Night kicks off! 🤠

• 📸 Picture Day Make-Ups — Friday, Sept 18th

  • For students who missed the original picture day.

• 🍊 Orangetheory Fitness Fundraiser — Sunday, Sept 27th (1:00 PM)

  • Sweat, move, and support FOPBE! Limited to 48 participants.

📢 School Announcements & Volunteer Needs

• 🤝 FOPBE Volunteer Opportunities: We are looking for parent leads and helpers for:

  • Committees & Events: Corporate Sponsorships, 5th Grade Coordination, Jogging Club, Penguin Pride, SkateWorld, Plunge Events, & Pizza Wednesdays.

  • Co-Leads: Halloween Carnival (shadow).

  • Specialized Skills: DJs, tax preparation, or insurance experts!

• 💛 PBE PALS (Lunch Supervision): Help supervise lunch (M, T, Th, F from 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM). Sign Up Here (Email Dr. Schnitzer at kschnitzer@sandi.net to complete requirements).

• 📚 Core Academy Dates: Tentative Saturday dates for 2026–2027: Oct 24 (Soft Opening - absences only), Nov 14, Dec 5, Jan 30, Feb 27, Mar 20, & Apr 10.

• 📋 Mandatory Forms & Clearance Checklist:

  1. PowerSchool Parent Portal: Complete the Universal Form (technology, media release, discipline) and review the Family Resource Guide.

  2. Library Permission Slip: Fill out the online permission slip for each student to check out books.

  3. Volunteer Clearance: Turn in volunteer application, driver's license copy, and valid TB clearance (within 4 years) at the front office.

  4. Field Trip Drivers: LiveScan fingerprinting, mandatory volunteer course, and SDUSD Volunteer Screening form required (LiveScan from last year is still valid!). You can also view district guidelines on the San Diego Unified School District main site.

⛺ Community & Local School News

• 🌊 September Beach Cleanup — Saturday, Sept 19th (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Meet at the grass by Belmont Park (near restrooms/parking lot). Buckets, grabbers, and gloves provided! Great for student community service hours.

• 📣 Future Buc Night Cheer Camp (Grades K–8): Saturday, Sept 26 (9 AM – 12 PM) | $60 fee includes t-shirt and halftime performance at the MBHS game on Oct 2nd! Register by Sept 12th (limited spots available, see attached flyer).

• 🏫 Middle & High School Campus Tours:

  • PBMS Tours (9:00 AM – 10:30 AM): Sept 16, Oct 21, Dec 8, Jan 13, Feb 17, Apr 14 (see flyer).

  • MBHS Tours (9:30 AM): Sept 10, Oct 8, Oct 22, Nov 12, Jan 14, Feb 18, Mar 11, Apr 8 (see flyer).
