A Message From Ms. Weissman's Tech Desk: No More Hotspots
Thu, Dec 17 12:59pm

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We regret to inform you that the district is now completely out of hotspots and will not be procuring more anytime soon. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and are here to try to help you around this issue. If you currently have an OUSD hotspot and are not using it, please return it to the school the week of 1/4/2021 so that another family can barrow it.

Here is a resource from OUSD that could help you procure better internet directly through internet providers:

Internet Access Options for Families

The above resource comes from a great website the district has set up during the pandemic:

OUSD Family Central. Navigate to “Chromebooks” and “Internet” at the top for lots of info.

Also, you may qualify for a free Chromebook and hotspot to keep through OUSD’s Oakland Undivided program. The hotspot you would receive is different from the ones we were loaning and they are still available. Please fill out the OUSD Tech Check Survey to see if you qualify. If you don't qualify, and none of the options work out for you from the "Internet Access Options" resource, but are still badly in need of better internet, let me know and we can file an appeal.

Never hesitate to contact me for any support or questions.

Thank you,

Rebecca Weissman
