Hello Redwood Heights Families,
The Fall Winter Carnival is upon us, Saturday October 22nd from 10am to 3pm. This is an annual event run by the RHS Dad's Club, to build community, have some fun and raise some money for Dad's Club, so we can continue our mission of community building and school support (see the end of this message for more about the Carnival and Dad's Club.) This event is open to all so feel free to invite friends, family and neighbors!
To pull off this super fun event, we need your help! We need many dozens of volunteers for everything from setup and cleanup, serving food, running game booths, taking money, running errands, handing out prizes and so much more. Parents, RHS alumni, and 5th graders are all welcome to volunteer! If you only have an hour or two or if you can spend the day it's all a huge help, no particular or prior skills or experience required!
In addition to volunteering, we are also looking for baked goods/treats to power the Cake Walk game at the carnival as well as "large prize" donations for the kids to win. The large prizes can be newly purchased, or "lightly used" toys you are willing to part with. The volunteer signup below has a place to indicate your interest in both of these donation opportunities, so please have a look even if you can't donate your time. Here is a link for some prize suggestions: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3GRQ1IB95SDYG?ref_=wl_share if you have any questions about the baked goods or prizes, please contact Melissa Natusch at melissanatusch@gmail.com
You'll find a link below where you can put your name, email, availability and areas of interest. If you have any questions you can reach out to me, dan, directly at dan@codesushi.com or text me at 207-232-2063.

About the Carnival
The Fall Carnival is the biggest event of the year! There is fun for the entire family. Play some games and win some prizes! Test your strength, jump in the bouncy house, or dunk a parent! Enjoy a BBQ lunch, snow cones and cotton candy! So many activities to enjoy with your RHS community. Invite your neighbors, the entire community is welcome!
About Dad's Club
Founded in 1948, the Dads' Club at RHS has a long history of rich contributions to the school. The Dads' Club gives dads and other members of the community a chance to connect with the school in three ways:
- Learn about what's going on at school through discussions at the monthly meetings
- Meet other parents in a relaxed atmosphere either at meetings or working on events and projects
- Make a positive, physical contribution to the school through community events, fundraising, and workdays
Open to all interested parents and community members (not just dads!), the Dads Club sponsors many of the school's annual events including the Fall Carnival, the Variety Show, Spaghetti Feeds, the Annual Golf Tournament and more. We also partner with the PTA to support the Auction and Walkathon fundraisers. Funds raised by the Dads Club benefit the Art Program, Music program, classroom field trips, technology and facilities improvements, and welfare needs.
In addition to community events and fundraising, the Dads Club tackles many projects around RHS to improve our children's learning environment. Many of the structures around the school and in the classrooms (e.g., cubbies, bookcases, planter boxes, and wall hangings) were built and are maintained by the Dads Club.
Membership is very casual. If you want to see what we're up to, just drop in on our monthly planning meeting (usually the second Tuesday evening of the month). You can also join our e-mail list to receive announcements about club activities. And feel free to contact any of the officers listed below if you have any questions or suggestions.
Thanks!
