Special celebration of Lunar New Year 1/26 @10am

Hosted by the RHS Asian, Arab, & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Parents Group.

On Thursday, January 26th, at 10:00AM, the prestigious Yau Kung Moon Richard Ow Kung Fu Association (an organization that has performed at half-time shows, parades, and events all over this country), will be performing a lion dance for our students. The parent community of RHS is also welcome to attend! It is a tradition to feed the lion a small cash donation to bring good luck and fortune for the coming year. We will provide the red envelopes to put the donation in if you would like to feed the lion. The donations are voluntary. Please join us. It will be a fun event that will take place on the Aliso yard (weather permitting).

Lunar New Year is typically celebrated in China and other Asian countries. Based on the cycles of the moon, the dates of the holiday vary from year to year, beginning sometime between January 21 and February 20. Every culture celebrates Lunar New Year a little differently.

Would you like to help the AAPI Parents Group plan more events like these or brainstorm ways we can celebrate other cultural events and holidays? We're all about community and would love to have you! We meet every second Wednesday of the month (the next meeting is 2/8 at 5:45 PM). Find us on Konstella or email parent lead Marissa Dominguez for more information: marissadominguez@gmail.com
