Fri, May 5 8:19pm
Hi, everyone,
The strike will continue Monday, May 8. Here are the latest updates:
- Expect to get an absence notification every night if your child(ren) have not gone to school. These are automatic notifications, and the absences will be marked as excused the next day. You should also expect to receive a truancy letter after an absence of more than three days; this too is automatic, and we don't want anyone to feel alarmed.
- We are postponing Teacher Appreciation Week one week (for now). To everyone who signed up to bake and help, thank you, we appreciate you, and we look forward to rescheduling this for a time we can focus on celebrating our incredible educators.
- The members of our RHS community who are striking invite everyone to join them on the picket line Monday at 8:30am to dance it out as the OUSD and OEA teams return to the negotiating table.
If you're feeling like it's challenging to make sense of all the updates and news, please know you're not alone. We are also trying to balance communicating too much and communicating too little. If you have any specific questions or concerns, we welcome you to reach out to us here in Konstella or at admin@redwoodheightspta.org (aka Anna).
Meanwhile, we encourage you to make your voice and opinion heard, whether by completing OEA's Call to Action letter to OUSD or writing to OUSD or the OEA directly.
Take good care,
Tiffany and Anna
