Rec center update:

Good morning parents

Unfortunately the Redwood Heights Recreation Center (as well as other centers) will remain closed on Thursday October 10 & it is still possible that we will be closed Friday October 11 as well.

I want everyone to know that these decisions have been made by positions higher up within the City of Oakland and OPRYD. We as Center Directors have no control over the decision. We can only relay the information. I understand the difficult position that it is putting on you the parents and I am truly sorry.

Please note that Studio One has been designated as an "alternate after school child care location", but the parent would need to bring the child to Studio One after school. There is no transportation offered.

Dear parents & community members,

Below is a letter from OPRYD administration.

Dear Recreation Patrons and Families,

Continuing Thursday October 10, Redwood Heights Recreation Center at 3883 Aliso Avenue will continue to be closed and programs cancelled or relocated due to the Red Flag Warning and high probability of a Public Service Power Shutoff (PSPS).

There is no way to know a date & time of when an evolving natural event will end. At this time, there is a Red Flag through 5 pm Thursday. The earliest sites would open is Friday AND that is assuming;

Red Flag is not extended.

Power did not go out or has been restored.

A fire is not impacting the area.

The following sites are continue to be closed.

Closed Recreation Sites

Dimond Recreation Center & Lions Pool

East Oakland Sports Center

Redwood Heights Recreation Center

Sheffield Village Recreation Center

Montclair Recreation Center

The programs at Redwood Heights Recreation Center listed below will be affected in the following way:

1. Morning Care – cancelled

2. Tai Chi – cancelled

3. Rockets after-school program – cancelled. You can pick your child up from school and take to Studio One as it is an alternate relocation site.

4. Laughter Yoga - cancelled

5. Karate -all classes youth & adults - cancelled

The well-being of all our park users is important to us. We believe these measures are necessary at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to be back to regularly scheduled programming as soon as it is possible to do so safely.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
