Dear Redwood Heights Parents and Caregivers,

Every year, OUSD administers an anonymous survey called The California Healthy Kids Survey. All parents or caregivers, staff members, and students in the 5th-12th grades (with parent consent) in the district are strongly encouraged to take the survey.  The survey is the largest statewide survey of resiliency, protective factors, and risk behaviors and has led to a better understanding of the relationship between students’ health behaviors and academic performance.  The California Healthy Kids Survey gives us non-academic insight into a child’s well-being at school.  Therefore, it is very important that every parent participates!

This year we have an exciting contest for participation.  Classes with the most parent surveys completed will enter a raffle to win a pizza party.

Today your student should be bringing you a paper survey.  You may also take the survey online. The survey runs from February 1st through February 28th.  Please let me know if you have any questions!  Here is the link, and a letter from the OUSD Program Manager:

Dear Oakland Unified Parent or Guardian,

Thank you for participating in the 2016-17 OUSD Parent School Survey. This survey is an opportunity for you to help this school by sharing your opinions about it.

We want to learn about this school’s efforts to promote academic success and well-being for every student. We also want to know how well the school is supporting you to be a true partner in your child’s education.

If you have more than one child at this school, you may fill out a separate survey for each child – or just focus on the experience of one of your children at this school. Each caregiver may fill out survey according to their experience with Oakland Unified.

No one can tell who filled out this survey. Your answers are completely private.

Thank you for participating. Your opinion matters.
