Welcome to your Redwood Heights PTA.  We are so excited about continuing the fabulous programs, events, and activities that have been a part of the RHS experience.  These include a renewed commitment to our wonderful Art Program, Garden Program, Library, Office Support, and Academic Specialists who work with our  teachers to provide focused and personalized instruction as well as patrol the yard during recesses.
We ended last year with three key objectives that we have embraced as our plan to kick off this PTA year.
1. Actively engage families whether it be via the new RHS Buddy Family program, casual conversations on the Aliso yard, or the various events throughout the year.
2. Forge strong collaborative partnerships with the Dad’s Club, School Site Council, RHS administration, and Redwood Heights Neighborhood Association for all school events.
3. Fundraising to sponsor staff, tools, and programs to ensure every child receives the academic and social/emotional support she or he needs.
As the PTA, we invite you to join us to think about ways we can support this school-wide initiative.  If you are connected and active in the school community, “Thank You,” and please know how much we appreciate and value your contributions.  If you have not found a way to become more connected but would like to, we welcome you to chat with us via Konstella, at Back to School Night, First Friday coffees, PTA meetings, or on the Aliso yard.  Of utmost importance is the need for our membership to reflect the entire RHS community.  We invite new families of various backgrounds and fresh perspectives. Together we can make our school a great place where every student thrives!  We look forward to seeing you at our First Monday School Welcome at 8:50 Sept 13 where we'll provide bagels and coffee.  We'd also love for you to join us at our first PTA general meeting Thursday, Sept 20.  Dinner (kids eat free and we ask adults for a $5 donation) is from 6:00-6:30PM.  Meeting to learn more about what we're about and why we do what we do is from 6:30-7:30PM.  Childcare provided.
Sincerely,
Edmund Chun, PTA President  2018-19

The PTA Board is seeking members for 3 positions!

The Secretary is a person/people who take minutes during each board and general meeting. These minutes are vital as they provide a transcript of exactly what was decided and what action items need to be met and by whom. Typically, we have a group of at least 2 people to juggle the duty. The more people who sign up for this, the less meetings each needs to attend.  We have a template from past Secretaries to use.

The Disaster Preparedness Chair will lead a team of subject matter experts in the field who are active in the RHS parent/caregiver community.  As a result, this role does not require any content knowledge.  This just requires a project manager type who can keep set an agenda and keep team members on task and on time.
The Parliamentarian is a stickler for the rules.  This person is responsible for reviewing and updating our PTA bylaws to ensure the Board and its crazy president does not go rogue.

The schedule is now available at the Redwood Heights Website. Click on Extended Day for the more information. If you need financial aid, the deadline to apply is August 17th. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact the Enrichment Coordinator via email @ rothman.lisa@gmail.com.
