Important reminder from PTA and SchoolForce

Redwood Shores Elementary
Hi families,

Many of us chose Redwood Shores in part because of the highly regarded public school system.  But did you know that of all the elementary school districts within the county, BRSSD receives the least amount of per student funding from the state?  It is a fact that for the foreseeable future will not be changing, and it puts the district in a position to have to make difficult decisions each and every year.

So what does this mean for our kids?  What does it mean for the short-term and long-term financial health of the district?  Dr. Michael Milliken, BRSSD Superintendent, will be at our PTA meeting this Tuesday (October 17) at 7:00 pm in the school library to discuss how we got to this point and what we can do to help as we move forward.  Everyone is welcome (and encouraged) to attend, regardless of whether or not you are a PTA member (note that this contradicts what was in The Catch -- everyone should feel welcome to come hear Dr Milliken, but any future general PTA meetings are indeed for members only).

Please come with your budget questions, concerns, or simple curiosity.  And come with all of your friends too -- as a community we will be far better equipped to tackle the inevitable budgetary challenges if we're all educated, and this is the best chance to start that process.

Thanks, and we hope to see you Tuesday!
