Redwood Shores Elementary

   Greetings Seals!

As we embark on this new school year, all families must remember that safety is a shared responsibility. We must work together as a community to establish and maintain a safe environment for the children on our campus. Students walk, bike, scoot, and drive to and from RSES every morning and afternoon. We MUST be a team to promote the well-being and safety of ALL of our children.

Take A Quick Survey About Traffic Flow At RSES
Please take one minute to answer 4 online survey questions in order for us to better evaluate our current traffic flow situation and plan some improvements. (65 responses have been submitted thus far.)

As parking is limited at RSES, families are encouraged to bike and walk to and from school.  If you must drive, please allow extra time to arrive, go through to the parking lot to the drop off / valet area, and stop for any and all pedestrians, cyclists and volunteers.  Please use extra caution and obey all traffic rules.
We ask that you set a good example and remember the following are NOT allowed: parking in disabled parking spaces without a permit, double parking, parking in red zones, speaking inappropriately to one another or to staff, and driving in front of students in crosswalks. We must all work toward safety, respect, and responsibility when it comes to bringing children to and from school.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Safety Volunteers Needed - please help!

To assist with a smooth commute, we need helpers! Please click the volunteer link to sign up on Konstella for a committee and then click UPDATE to select volunteer shifts when you can help.  Contact Jen Vitug for assistance with signups.

Crosswalk Volunteers - Parents in this committee are volunteers that work crosswalk duty every morning (8-8:30am) in front of the school. Parents should go to the office and proceed to the Health Room to find an orange vest that they should always wear during their shift.

5th Grade Valet Assistants - Valet service is offered every school morning at our Drop Off Only curb. 5th Grade students volunteer for weekly shifts and stand along the curb to help students out of their cars. Shifts are 8 to 8:20am every school morning, and 6 students per morning are needed.

Safe Routes to School - This program is district wide program to change community behavior, attitudes, and social norms to make it safer for children in grades K-8 to walk and bike to school.   It also involves safety at school.  We need a Committee Chair, who will work closely with the Principal to determine programs to support and implement that can educate our students and our community about transportation safety in and around the school.

Lunch Recess Yard Duty Volunteers - This committee is comprised of volunteer parents that come to campus each lunch recess period to monitor the student activities. This committee works closely with the Principal to ensure safety and supervision at lunch time every day of the week, except Wednesdays.

We appreciate everyone pitching in by doing your One Thing to help make our community SAFER!!! Our children depend on us!

Art in Action Can't Happen Without Volunteers!
The Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms depend on parent volunteers to teach Art in Action lessons. No art background is necessary and training is provided. Our students need a person or team to steps up as Coordinator. For details, contact Peggy Chiu.

Konstella Usage
Class assignment links will be sent from BRSSD this week.
In Konstella, you'll need to assign yourself to the appropriate classroom, and then everyone can begin to see the information of their classmates. Please upload a profile photo to help us recognize each other on campus and around the community! Konstella is our school-wide communication method/app, and we try to keep it all consolidated and not to overwhelm families with messages.  Please, please, please read The Catch that is sent / posted each week for an overview of information for RSES families!
