President's Message

I had the pleasure of chaperoning a field trip last week to Folger Stables and it was such a great experience.  Being out in the serene environment of Woodside away from the cars and noise, among the trees and horses, learning about a part of San Mateo history was a reminder that we should all take a deep breath once in a while.  Thank you for your contributions to our PTA to make this possible. The kids loved it!
For those of you who missed the Challenge Success Parent Ed Event, Fostering Resilience and Why It Matters, click here to watch the recording.  We had a super quick discussion during our PTA Meeting last week, and I think it’s worth the time for those interested.
Go Seals!

PTA General Association Meeting
For PTA Members || January 26, 8:40am-9:40am || Location TBD
This is a notice to all PTA Members that the January PTA meeting will be in the MORNING on FRIDAY. We understand it’s difficult to come to meetings at 7pm at night, so we’re hoping this will help. Come enjoy some bagels and coffee and join the conversation about how to make the school better! This and subsequent PTA meetings are for PTA members only. Become a PTA Member today to make a difference. You can sign up and pay for membership on Konstella!

Robotics Club
Calling all parents who may be able to lead Robotics! As you 4th and 5th grade parents know, there is a long wait list for the Robotics Club. We would support additional teams if we can get someone to lead it. We have a room available either Mondays or Fridays between 3:15pm-8pm. If interested, please contact Sandy. The kids on the waitlist will have priority if we open another session.

Lunchtime Parent Volunteers
Calling all parents who are able to come to campus 12:05pm-1:05pm any day excluding Wednesday to supervise children during lunch and lunch recess. There are two different roles, one is the Black Top and Lawn Supervisor and the other is Lunch Tables/Green Team Supervisor. You will work closely with Principal Cahoon to ensure safety of the kids as well as help them be more green. We only have Principal Cahoon supervising the children on most days and there are a lot of kids out and about.  If you are able to spare an hour, please sign up on Konstella as a Parent Volunteer in the Lunch Recess Yard Duty Committee. In Konstella, click on More (at the top), Sign-ups (in the drop down menu), you’ll see the list to sign up for specific time slots.

Toy Drive to Benefit Samaritan House
Redwood Shores Elementary School is participating in a TOY DRIVE to benefit the families and children served by the SAMARITAN HOUSE in San Mateo County. Bring your donation to the school office and place it in one of the large, blue collection barrels. You can print individual gift tags from their website to specify a girl or boy gift.
