No School on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day!
No school for students on Monday, January 15th, to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Dive Into Reading Kicks Off Tuesday, January 16th
Our annual Read-a-Thon Fundraiser has begun!  Log pledges & reading minutes!
Book Exchanges will take place Tuesday and Thursday mornings during the Read-A-Thon. Families bring books they are done with and trade them in for different books brought by other families. There are two locations - outside the library and in the kindergarten snack area. Check out volunteer sign ups to help set up the exchange and reward stations!

Youth Mental Health 101 Workshop on January 25th
The Belmont Redwood Shores Healthy Schools Initiative Grant presents an interactive workshop to explore some key concepts in our youth’s well-being, including anxiety, depression, and stress. We will also discuss how these issues may present differently with youth and common causes, as well as ways adults in their lives can support them.  For additional details, please click here.

SamTrans Bus Service Changes on Jan 21, 2018
SamTrans will merge 12 of its routes into six to simplify service, including 260/261 in Redwood Shores. The mergers will mean fewer transfers for customers. Schedules of several routes will also be adjusted to improve or add service.  You can get complete information on the route mergers and other changes at this link.  Call SamTrans Customer Service at 1-800-660-4287 if you have any questions. 

Rotary Lobster Fest is January 27th at Twin Pines!
In past years, our students and teachers have been RECIPIENTS of proceeds from this popular event!  Each year, Rotary Scholarships and Teacher Mini Grants programs begin with the success of this annual fundraiser. We'd LOVE to have a table or two of teachers and parents at the event. Growing Up Asian Art Contest
Asian Pacific Fund, a nonprofit foundation serving the San Francisco Bay Area has an annual art, essay and video contest, Growing Up Asian in America, for K-12 Bay Area students. This year’s theme is: My Hope for the Future.  Entries are due on Friday, March 2, 2018 and rules and submission instructions are online.
