Principal's Announcement

Dear Families and Staff,
I invite you to attend one of the BRSSD Town Hall meetings (on November 2nd and 7th) regarding the District's budget challenges.  If we do not take action this year, District leaders expect to make cuts that will begin to affect programs next year. These meetings will share the most recent information and will invite parent and staff input.  Please make time to join us!
Thanks from Annie Cahoon

Halloween Parking
In an effort to have a happy and safe Halloween, everyone coming to watch the Halloween parade and/or help in classroom parties should walk to school.  As everyone knows, parking is limited.  In order to ensure staff parking, all parents driving to school will need to use the 5th grade valet.  The parking lot will only be available to staff members on October 31st.

REMINDER – Do not double park, park in the red, handicapped or drop off zone.  Redwood City Police Department will be on site to ensure parking laws are obeyed.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Candy Buy Back November 1st - 6th
Is your child in the 100% of children who bring home too much Halloween candy? Do you find yourself throwing away ziplock bags of Halloween candy sometime in February?  Here's a solution for you.  Bring all of your excess candy to school between November 1-6, and drop it off in the office. There will be large containers you can toss the candy in -- you can't miss them (hopefully they'll be full within a couple days -- last year they were overflowing).
And it's not only you (and your kid's teeth) that benefits -- a local dentist office kindly donates $1 per pound of candy to SchoolForce (up to $3,500), which positively impacts the quality of education for our children.  Then the candy is shipped overseas, where it can be enjoyed by our troops.
Last year our school donated just under 400 lbs of candy (almost .75 lbs per kid) -- but this year I think we can do even better!  Let's shoot for 500 lbs... Support the troops, support your clean pantries/cupboards, and support the kids!
Please see flyer for details, and a special thank you to the sponsors:
