Family Dinner Dance April 26th
Put on your wildest Hawaiian wear and don't forget your leis & shades! Join RSES for a Hawaiian themed family dance party with dinner, dancing, photo booth and more! It will be a night to remember! This is a PTA sponsored event and the entry cost covers event expenses (food, drinks, photo booth, etc.) We hope to see you all there, and that you'll volunteer to help out!! Click here for additional details and to purchase tickets for this fun family event!
Earth Week Collections
Many items we have in our homes that are no longer needed can be used in other ways, so while you're doing your spring cleaning please consider donating the following items and give these things another life before they end up recycled or in a landfill. All should be in clean condition:
used bath towels
used flat sheets
used fleece blankets
used crayons (and chunks)
used athletic shoes of any condition (even holey and destroyed)
There will be a marked bin near the lost and found in the school office for donations during the week of April 22-26. Items will be donated to Nine Lives Foundation, Peninsula Humane Society, The Crayon Initiative, Crayola Colorcycle and SportsBasement's volunteer contacts. For questions, contact Erin Metzler.
Walk-N-Roll Wednesday this week!
Walk, scoot, bike to school this week to celebrate Earth Day! Check in on the blacktop to see which grade has the highest participation.
It's Time To Work On Your Custom Yearbook Pages!
Remember to get this book full of memories of your child’s year at RSES! Order before the end of April so that your yearbook will be delivered directly to your student’s classroom rather than pay shipping on late orders. If you order now, you still have time to design custom pages for your student. The final deadline to order and to design custom pages is Tuesday, April 30th. Once you have completed your custom pages, remember to TURN ON THE PRINT READY BUTTON. If you don't, your book will be printed without any custom pages. Go to www.treering.com and use code 101282597210657 to purchase or login to customize pages for your child. For questions, please contact Christine Wong.
(And, if you want this tradition to continue next year, please volunteer to assist!)
SchoolForce Database Transition
SchoolForce will be transitioning to a new donor database system soon. We will share details as the transition date gets closer, so please read your email from SchoolForce, as important info will be provided that allows donors to create their own login accounts, update contact information and track donation history.
Discovery Day is Wednesday, June 5th from 9-11:30am!
In order to make Discovery Day a success we need your help! Our children will have the opportunity to DISCOVER, learn and explore new and exciting activities! But this can't happen without YOU. Please sign-up to lead an activity! Email questions to the committee chairs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lunchtime Help Needed
If you're available to help out at lunch/recess shift, please sign up on Konstella and see Principal Amsler for specific role details.
Report Those Volunteer Hours
We are so grateful for all the time that our volunteers have spent helping our teachers and students at RSES. Please report your volunteer hours by sending an email to email@example.com.
Looking for 2019-2020 AiA Volunteer Coordinators
The Redwood Shores Elementary Art in Action (AiA) committee needs volunteer coordinators to co-lead this program for the next school year. AiA leads coordinate with the Art in Action organization (in Menlo Park) on subscription licenses and related activities. At school, the AiA co-chairs identify volunteer docents for each classroom, manage the budget and supplies, and organize the annual art show at the school open house. The role takes a couple hours a month, with a few extra hours needed at the beginning and end of the year. Ideally 2-3 coordinators is recommended to share responsibilities. There will be an opportunity to transition from the current AiA coordinator.
Each year the school's Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms are exposed to a variety of artists, concepts, and mediums through this high-quality visual art curriculum, and parent volunteers are key to its success. If you enjoy interacting with the school community, are good at organizing, or have an interest in art this may be a good opportunity to get involved. Art experience is a plus but not necessary. If interested, contact Peggy Chiu.
