California School Parent Survey, 2018-2019
Our school needs you to complete this online survey to learn more about your opinions about your child's school. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.  If you have questions, contact Beth Boldt, BRSSD Health and Wellness Educator.

Many Read-a-Thon Activities This Week!
For information about the many events during the Read-a-Thon, please click here! The 1st SchoolForce Read-a-Thon Pie Throw Event is Monday, drawn from students who raised $150 or secured 5 pledges of $5 or more by last Friday the 25th. Monday is also our Reading Night at the Redwood Shores library, 6:45-7:15pm! Wednesday, January 30th is Pajama Day! The Read-a-Thon ends this Friday. 

Book Exchange This Week!
Remember to bring books before school for the Book Exchange on Tuesday and Thursday mornings this week!    

"Let Your Imagination Grow"
Please come and join us at the annual RWSE Book Fair. The Enchanted Forest Book Fair will be a whimsical place, full of irresistible books kids can’t wait to read so their imaginations can grow! Students, parents, and staff can wander through an unexpected world that holds a book for every visitor with every sort of interest. The event takes place from February 4–8. Enchanted Store hours are on the flyer
The book fair would not be successful without the help of our amazing volunteers.

Proceeds from the purchase of books go to our school library.

Who: Cynthia Klein (https://bridges2understanding.comis a very experienced parent educator, speaker and author. Her work focuses on strengthening the parent­/child bond.

Open PTA Board & Committee Chair Positions for 2019-2020
The success of Ralston students and students across our entire district is truly dependent upon a united parent community!  We appreciate your dedication to ensuring the success of our community as a whole! 
Update: a few parents stepped up already, here are open positions for next year.
Board Positions: VP Communications, Treasurer, Secretary, Historian, Parliamentarian (appointed by president)
Chairs Positions: 6th Grade BBQ, Spirit Day, Promotion Dance Chair
If you would like to better understand the responsibilities of these positions, please don't hesitate to contact me anytime. I will also connect you with this years volunteer to explain the duties in more depth.
We must announce the nominations for these positions at our PTA meeting on March 8th, and vote in the new board at our last PTA meeting in May. Therefore, given our timeline, please indicate your interest in volunteering at your earliest convenience.

Making Math Real Workshop
Opening Doors PTA is proud to sponsor the 2-day Making Math Real®: Overview, K-12 workshop on March 23 & 24 at the College of San Mateo. Making Math Real (MMR) prepares educators (both teachers and parents) to prescriptively reach students of all ages and abilities. It has the reputation in the professionals community as the only effective intervention for students with math learning difficulties or disabilities.

Robotics Tournament on February 2nd
The 4th Annual Sandpiper VEX IQ Robotics Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 2nd.  Come see the amazing work of our friends in local robotics clubs!

RSCA's Annual Meeting on February 6th 
The Redwood Shores Community Association (RSCA) invites you to our 2019 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, February 6th at 6:30pm at the Shores Library. This year's event will include a presentation about city districting options and an opportunity to meet leaders and discuss information related to SVCW, BRSSD, Sequoia High School District, RWC Police, Fire, Parks and more!

RSOA's Annual Meeting on February 28th
The Annual Meeting of Redwood Shores Owners Association (RSOA) will be on February 28th at 7:30-9pm at the Pullman Hotel with special guest speaker Theresa Herrera, Plant Manager at SVCW.  Look for more information in the mail.
