Dear families,
The Riverside Sustainability Team is excited to kick off our first Spring Public Transportation, Walking, and Biking Challenge! This is a fun, low‑pressure way for kids and families to explore all the great ways to get around Princeton - and beyond - without hopping in the car.
How it works
The challenge is simple and flexible. Try out different transportation options and earn one point for each type you use. Options include local and regional transit such as the Princeton Loop, Tiger Transit, NJ Transit, SEPTA, or any urban subway system. Kids can also earn points by walking, biking, or taking the school bus to school. The more ways you travel, the more points you earn!
When
All rides taken between April 1 and May 22 count toward the challenge.
Prizes
Kids who participate will be eligible to win a range of prizes, generously sponsored by Experience Princeton, Princeton Council, NJ Transit, Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association (GMTMA), and the Riverside PTO.
How to participate
Please register by April 29 using the link below so we can share instructions for submitting challenge cards and collecting prizes. You’ll find more details and a printable challenge card in the attached PDF.

You can also visit us to register in person at the Party Like It's Your Earth Day Fair on Sunday, April 19 at the Morven Museum.
We can’t wait to see our students discovering the many car‑free options our community has to offer, and we hope this challenge sparks some fun family adventures along the way.
